Day 01 – BIA Arrival / Pinnawala / Kandy (Approx. Drive Time – 4 Hours / Distance 120Kms)
Upon arrival at the Colombo Bandaranayake International Airport, you will be warmly received by our representative from Ceylon Horizons Holidays. Your quest for the Ramayana Trail has just begun. You will be escorted to your vehicle and transferred to a living Heritage City Kandy. The starting point of your journey will record in Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Evening, The Kandy Cultural Show gives an opportunity to experience some of the traditions of Sri Lanka. Enjoy this hour-long extravaganza as some of the most popular art forms of the island take to the stage. Get wowed by fire dancers and sword dancers. Watch the colorful Kandiyan dancers take to the air to the thrumming primal beat of the drums.

Day 02 & 03 – Kandy / Nuwara Eliya (Approx. Drive Time – 03 Hours / Distance 75 Kms)
After having your breakfast at the hotel, will start journey to reach the Emerald City Sri Lanka known as “little England” for its cool climate and colonial style architecture. It is located at an altitude of 1,868 m (6,128 ft) above sea level which enables the plantations to produce the finest tea in the world. En route you will visit BAKTHI HANUMAN TEMPLE in Ramboda where it is believed that Hanuman rested happily after meeting Sitha on the way, taking the good news to Lord Rama and Ramboda Falls.
Discover the beauty and the story behind the Seetha Amman Temple in the morning. Then head to the Royal Botanical garden in Hakkgala to admire the beauty of nature. Next, pay a visit to the Divurumpola Temple where Seetha Devi was tested with Agni Pariksha.

Day 04 – Nuwara Eliya / Ella (Approx. Drive Time – 2.5 Hours / Distance 90 Kms)
Leave for Ella a small village in the hill country that charms anyone who travels the place with its breath-taking scenery and cool climate. Explore the top sites that have strong folktales related to the story of Ramayana including the Ravana Ella Cave where Ravana used to live. On your way to Ella we will visit DIVURUMPOLA – WELIMADA where Sita is said to have walked on fire to prove her chastity in captivity to Rama. Visit the RAVANA FALLS. Sita is said to have been held captive by Ravana in the underground cave complex which stretches from near these Falls to a place called Uva Paranagama

Day 05 – Ella / Katharagama/ Kirinda / Yala (Approx. Drive Time – 2.5 Hours / Distance 100 Kms)
Travel to Kataragama, a unique town known for its religious unity and considered as the largest multi-religious attraction. Buddhists and Hindus come together in Kataragama, the main places of worship being the Ruhuna Maha Kataragama Devalaya (a shrine dedicated to Skanda Murukan) and Kiri Vehera a Buddhist stupa which has been a seat of governance of many Sinhalese Kings. The temple of the Lord Karthikeya Subramaniam at Kataragama. Lord Karthikeya was requested to go to the battle field by Lord Indra on the last day of the war. This was done to protect Lord Rama from the wrath of Brahmaastharam, shot by King Ravana which otherwise would have weakened Lord Rama. Although Brahmaastharam aimed at Lord Rama for the second time, the shot was rendered useless by the presence of Lord Karthikeya.

Day 06 – Yala / Unawatuna (Approx. Drive Time – 3.5 Hours / Distance 150 Kms) Travel to Unawatuna, a beautiful beach which is like a large natural pool protected by two major reefs. Unawatuna with its musical name has acquired a romanticism of its own and become a favourite spot for gatherings and beach bathing. The beach which lacks surf is ideal for swimming. Significance of Unawatuna in the Ramayana Trail is the ‘RUMASSALA KANDA’ Where Lord Hanuman accidentally dropped a piece of Himalaya.

Day 07 – Unawatuna / Colombo (Approx. Drive Time – 2.5 Hours / Distance 150 Kms)
Transfer to Colombo – the official political and trade capital of Sri Lanka. All the famous shopping arcades are in and around the city, which allows one to have a tantalizing experience in Colombo as it has something to offer every visitor. As a hub of many ethnicity with people from all creeds working together, Colombo is indeed cosmopolitan.
